Jumping sharks and tunas
Trying to write and read some things today for my seminar students, so a few thoughts and then off until late afternoon:
- I am very unpleased with the turn 24 took last night. (If you want spoilers, go read Jeff's liveblog.) I won't say much here in case you still need to fish it out of your TiVo. The shark has not been jumped, but the shark is in the pool and the show is strapping on skis. But the first two weeks I spent in LA were in Granada Hills, and I had a nostalgic moment there...
- Did you not see Parcells quitting? As a Giants fan I am elated, not because Parcells has been disgraced -- he isn't; that team is one defensive stud away from being really good -- but because Parcells is the guy who could get them all the way to the Super Bowl. (Tell me they'd not have beaten the Bears had Romo held the snap.) And Jerry Jones will now get the Second Coming of Barry Switzer. Now if my contract on Andy Reid comes through...
- Now on DirecTV, the Peyton Manning channel. I will now set my TV on fire...
- Think this might harm Larry Jacobs as the font of dispassionate political analysis on every Cities TV station? No, me neither.
