Basic German Shepherd
Erin O'Connor is wondering: "Are there private high schools in this country that explicitly operate according to a libertarian ethos?" This right after she posts this quote from William Godwin:
I recall reading someone referring to parenting a one-year-old as "basic German Shepherd", as in "stay", "sit" and "be quiet".All education is despotism. It is perhaps impossible for the young to be conducted without introducing in many cases the tyranny implicit in obedience. Go there; do that; read; write; rise; lie down; will perhaps for ever be the language addressed to youth by age.
